Agora Portals receives the Onda Cero Mallorca Prize for the environment in the XI edition of the contest organized by the Balearic radio
Rafael Barea, Director of Agora Portals International School, received the prize awarded to the Aula del Mar on the 14th of February at a gala event which brought together all the Balearic society, authorities, business people and representatives from all sectors.
The Aula del Mar, a project within the framework of the Agora Posidonia Experience which goes beyond a mere academic experience, was born in November 2021 with the aim of making our pupils aware of the importance of preserving our seas and oceans. The programme includes a series of workshops, lectures, talks, excursions and activities that students will experience throughout their academic life so that they finish their school studies with a knowledge of the marine environment and therefore with a commitment to its preservation.
The Aula del Mar is a unique project in the Balearic Islands and a pioneer in Spain which fits in perfectly with the commitments that Agora International School and Globeducate maintain in their educational project, such as STEAM, Shaping the World, and the IB.
The Aula del Mar has been designed in collaboration with the Vellmarí association and National Geographic Education and thanks to the support of entities such as the Palma Aquarium Foundation, IMEDEA and Balearia, whose main objective is to raise awareness of our marine world from an early age, given that knowledge is appreciation, and appreciation can generate passion and therefore awareness and preservation.
Our mission as members of Globeducate is to prepare every student to be a global citizen who can shape the world.
