Curriculum and Key Stages

Agora Portals International School is licensed to teach all levels of education from Preschool to Baccalaureate, and is also certified as an IB World School, authorised to deliver the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme to our Pre-University students. At each educational stage our pupils acquire a breadth and depth of subject-specific knowledge and skills, develop physically, intellectually and emotionally and become fluent in least two languages. They learn how to present and analyse information effectively, evaluate and debate ideas, solve problems creatively, think logically and critically, retain the knowledge they acquire, understand key concepts and apply standard methodologies.

IB World School

Agora Portals International School is a certified IB World School. Our senior, pre-university students can follow the National Baccalaureate or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. Graduates of this prestigious international programme complete their university studies before other students, are better prepared for rigorous, research-based academic study and can cope with demanding workloads and the challenges of efficient time management.

Educational Stages

Preschool Education

Preschool Education lays down the foundations upon which the entire educational process is based. At this early stage children begin to develop emotionally, physically, socially and cognitively and, with the appropriate stimulation, the almost limitless potential of their amazing brains is initiated. Pupils begin to assimilate knowledge and skills and to adopt the processes and strategies that they will use throughout their educational journey. During these early years, constant stimulation and communication help to trigger their excitement and interest, build their self-esteem and encourage self-expression and socialisation.

Primary Education

During the Primary Education stage, the focus becomes a little more academic than in Preschool and we start to introduce different curriculum subjects and to learn about their content and objectives. As at all stages of education at Agora Portals International School, the values and ethics essential to the formation of interested, active and motivated young people form an integral part of our daily work. During the Primary stage, the children’s personal traits and characteristics become more pronounced and they begin to develop better understanding in areas such as oral comprehension and expression, reading, writing and mathematics. Our Primary pupils develop a wider range of social skills, establish more structured work and study habits, and have ample opportunities for self-expression and artistic and creative development.

Secondary Education

At Secondary level the curriculum becomes more specialised; creative subjects continue to form an important part of the educational programme and students can choose to study either French or German as an additional foreign language. At this stage we work on attending to the individual educational needs, abilities and interests of each student, helping them to make appropriate decisions about future academic and professional choices. We celebrate the diversity of our school community and provide each individual with the guidance and support that they need to progress, in line with their needs, aptitudes and preferences.

National Baccalaureate

At this stage of our students’ education, the main focus is on preparation for University or for the future career path that each individual may choose to take. At this senior level our students become more intellectually and personally mature as they prepare themselves to deal with the challenges that they will face as they move on to the next stage of their lives. The school’s objective is twofold: Firstly, we offer our students an excellent academic education so that they can achieve the highest possible results in the University Access Tests (PAU) and, secondly, we ensure that our pupils have acquired the academic, social and personal skills required to successfully cope with the demands of a university education.
